Malt Advocate, a leading magazine in the US tested some older whiskies and one 5 yr old Port Charlotte Evolution from Islay's Bruichladdich Distillery. A very peaty whisky and guess what... The PC5 was third in this little competition.
Anouncement from the Bruichladdich distillery (from the laddieblog):
The latest Valinch is now installed in the shop for visitors to the distillery.
It's a fourteen year old Bruichladdich, American oak matured, that has been ACE'd by Jim in French oak for that extra waft of toasty complexity.
The casks had originally been used for Quarts de Chaume, an esoteric sweet white wine from the Loire Valley, which imparts a sensual hint of mellow yellowness.
The Valinch is entitled: "Some Utter Fake"
For those who don't know the Valinch. This is the cask at the back of the shop, as seen on one of the webcams.
You can fill your own 50 cl. bottle with this malt. It's a 59.4 % Alc. bruiser.
You have to go to to the distillery to get it!!!
The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time! Many scenes on Islay!
