Another week on Islay by Teresa Morris
Sunday, May 17 2009
Teresa Morris of Islay Wildscapes is now in her second week and she sent the following report and beautiful images: "Following the severe weather last week at last there have been a few days of sunshine. The Bushmill Woods at RSPB Loch Gruinart wood have a beautiful display of bluebells and primroses which can be enjoyed along the woodland trail. Lapwing chicks are hatching and can be see feeding in wet rushy pastures. Choughs are busy feeding their young, searching for invertebrates in the dunes at Ardnave and Killinallan. Red deer stags have nearly all cast their antlers now. The regrowing antlers are coated in velvet. The deer are moulting their darker greyer winter coats to reveal a redder summer one. The improved weather has provided opportunities for flyfishing for trout on Loch Skerrols one the many lochs which Islay offers for fishing. Loch Gruinart has provided spectacular views of sea and sand during the evening light this week."
Besides making beautiful pictures Teresa is into videos as well. A couple of days ago I showed her video of the Corncrakes at Loch Gruinart and this time Teresa uploaded a lovely video of a Lapwing Chick feeding near Bridgend. Continue to this weeks images
