Walk Islay is an annual returning event which is organised by the Islay & Jura Tourism & Marketing Group. The event encompasses six days of walks across Islay as well as trips over to Colonsay and Jura. The walk week kicks off on Sunday at the Oa, skirting Loch Kinnabus and looking out for Golden Eagles. On Monday there's an epic ten mile walk across the hills and lochs at the head of Loch Indaal. Tuesday sees the walkers headed to the Laggan estate for a circular walk with some great views.
Wednesday's, if the weather is suitable, there's a ferry trip over to Colonsay to walk north from the beautiful Kiloran Bay, or for those wanting to stay on Islay there's the new Three Distilleries pathway ending up at Ardbeg for lunch, and the opportunity of catching the bus back! Thursday is a stunning walk on the flat, out to Killinallan, before the Friday finale of Beinn Tart a Mhill on the Rhinns. Also on Friday a lucky few will be scaling Beinn an Oir, one of the Paps of Jura; this is already fully booked. In addition there are two RSPB guided walk options on Tuesday and Thursday for those not wanting to participate in longer walks.
