Itâ€™s time for another Walkislay to take place, and our first walk this year will be on Sunday 14th April starting from Bunnahabhain at 10am sharp. The walk will climb up to the top of Guir Bheinn and than come back down to Margadale and return to our start point. Becky Williamson is our leader for this walk. In the evening, there will be music in the bar at Port Charlotte Hotel from 9pm.
On Monday the 15th, Florrie MacAllister and Maggie Pollard will lead our walk starting from the Port Ellen Maltings at 10 am. Their walk will go out past Kilnaughton Bay, up to Cragabus then down to Ballychatrican. We return past Port an Eas and the Singing Sands and back to our original starting point. In the evening, there will be a Visitorsâ€™ Welcome Evening at 6.30 pm at Bunnahabhain Distillery.
On Tuesday the 16th there will be a circular walk from the car park on the Oa out to the American Monument, starting at 10am. The other walk will be up to the summit of Beinn Bheigar with Tom, Neil and Naill; meet up at the car park opposite the Ramsay Hall in Port Ellen for shared transport at 9.30pm.
On Wednesday the 17th, we head over to Colonsay where James How will lead a walk to Kiloran Bay. Please meet up with James at Port Askaig at 9.45am to catch the ferry. Continue reading....
On Thursday the 18th, the first walk is from Laphroaig Distillery starting at 10am sharp; Jenny Husthwaite to lead this walk. There will be another walk on Thursday at RSPB Loch Gruinart reserve, also starting at 10am, for either a walk up over the moor to Moulin or a the guided walk to the hide and back along the woodland trail, starting from the Visitor centre at Loch Gruinart reserve. Anna NicGuaire will lead a walk starting from the MacTaggart Leisure Centre at 4.30pm, taking in The Battery, going along the shoreline out to Gartbreck and returning to Bowmore. In the evening from 7pm, we will host our farewell supper. A day filled with activity!
Finally, our last walk will be on Jura, led by Donald Ewan Darroch and Naill Colthard; this walk is already fully booked. We would strongly recommend that suitable walking boots and waterproof clothing are worn on all the walks.
