Walk around Ardnave Islay

Walk Islay has started today with a walk on The Oa near Loch Kinnabus. We didn't join them, but instead we went our own way and headed for Ardnave. The circular walk, doing it clockwise and starting at Ardnave Farm, is one of our favourite walks on Islay. There are many larger and smaller beaches, wildlife is abundant and the views over the Southern Hebrides is stunning. We have seen chough, ringed plover, barnacle geese, all sorts of gulls and waders and many seals on Nave Island. Almost the entire way we were accompanied by the song of the Skylarks.

Today, the weather was nice and the visibility good, we could see quite a few islands from one of the higher dunes near Ardnave Point. The islands we could clearly see were: Jura, Kerrera, Oronsay, Colonsay, Mull, Iona and a few tiny bumps on the horizon, we decided that they belonged to Tiree. More details and other walks can be found in our Walks Section. Below are some images of today's walk.
