Views of Kilchoman Beach and Machir Bay

I don't think we have ever been to Islay without visiting Machir Bay. The beach near Kilchoman is one of the most beautiful beaches on the west-coast of Islay, very accessible too and you can make pleasant walks. If you head south you will find a track at the end of the beach which gives access to Grannies Rock and higher up you have magnificent views of Machir Bay. The images below were taken in the autumn of 2012 on a rather dark day with a few sunny spells, only four months ago, and give a wee impression of the area. Enjoy!

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
