Stormcats New Boat Release - Tope Hunter
Saturday, May 09 2009
Scotland and South Africa may be worlds apart in many respects - one is famed for its endless sunshine, the other, sadly, is not. However, in terms of surf and high waves, there are indeed parallels between the infamous swells of the Indian Ocean and those of the North Atlantic. The latest new design from StormCats, 'Tope Hunter' has, like all StormCats boats, a level of strength and resilience specifically measured for dealing with our unpredictable British weather conditions. The inspiration for the layout of this model however, comes partly from a different source – the South African surf boat. The most recent addition to the StormCats team, Graeme Hayes originally from South Africa, has brought extensive experience of boating in both places to help design the first product with this unique blend of influences.
Following her launch last month and reviews in the national boating press the Tope Hunter has attracted a great deal of attention from across the country and within two weeks StormCats received their first order from Cornwall. Another fishing boat, the StormAngler, was also recently sent to the South Coast, a popular area for leisure fishing. She was bought by Chris Ogborne, the English national and European flyfishing champion and England team captain, who runs game fishing tuition programmes in Devon and Cornwall. His clients include members of the Royal family and he is now on board as a StormCats distributor. Other boats sent to new owners last month were two 5.9 Pro-Fisher Cuddies which went to Elgin and Ardrishaig.
