Virtual (Islay) drams on the telly
Tuesday, September 12 2006
At the 29th of September a new tv channel will start on the internet. Brian already wrote something about this on thewashingmachinepost.net. The channel is called singlemalt.tv and in the weekend from 9/10 September they visited Islay and filmed the distilleries.
Creative minds behind all this are Charles MacLean, who is “Scotland’s foremost whisky writer,”according to the BBC. The Founding Editor of Whisky Magazine and Contributing Editor of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s Newsletter, MacLean has written and lectured prolifically on the subject for 20 years, and Rob Draper. "Rob Draper is one of the entertainment industry's most innovative Directors of Photography. Rob has worked in more than 50 Countries bringing his personal visual style to feature films for major Hollywood Studios."
For those not able to view BBC Scotland, such as myself, I can only be happy with this. Islay isn't much visible on television and now we can view the distilleries and Islay over the internet. A nice trailer is available and requires Quicktime. The trailer is worth viewing and the Ardbeg Distillery is already visible in the preview. I can't wait for it to start.
