Sanaigmore to Bowmore Panorama

Oh no, not another panorama I hear you thinking.... yes it is, and I think this one is worth having a look at! The hill near Foreland House is one of my favourite viewpoints on Islay, and probably from a lot of other people as well. It's also one of the trickiest places to park your car if you want to admire the stunning views carefully. Not that the road is so very busy by the way, but you don't want to hold up local traffic right? If you want to admire the views and want to park in a good place it's best to do that before the hill on a track on your right when you come from Bruichladdich.

The views from this hill are excellent and include the cliffs at Sanaigmore on your left, the RSPB visitor centre at Aoradh farm, Loch Gruinart and the Isle of Colonsay (and Mull on a very clear day) in front of you. And then further to the right Craigens farm and Loch Gruinart House, Coullabus, Lagstoban and Lyrabus farm with the Paps of Jura as backdrop, and then, on the right, Loch Indaal and Bowmore. A very nice panorama in my humble opinion. Last year I took another panorama which includes Mull from this same viewpoint using a tele lens, which gives a totally different effect.

The viewpoint is marked on the map with an arrow to give you an idea where this viewpoint roughly is. For the full panorama view click on the image below.

No I`m not saying `another panoramic view` The ones you have taken Ron are brilliant and I have just relived my recent trip to Islay. I think the colours seem to change every month on the island and this time I was impressed with the golden browns exactly depicted in your photos. Keep them coming so that I can be there in spirit. Hi Mags, what a coincidence... I was just reading your emails and looking at the pics you sent me! Thanks very much for your kind words, I'm really glad you like the pictures. And yes, there is a lot more to come I'm afraid ;-)

Stay tuned....

I'd rather be on Islay :-)
