Rocking the Boat with Kelly Clarkson
Wednesday, March 21 2007
You probably wonder what Gus Newman, Kelly Clarkson and a company called StormCats have in common and how they are related to each other? You’ll see this is all about rocking…
Yesterday I wrote about Islay’s shipwrecks and mentioned the absence of the Islay Dive Centre website. I checked out with Brian and found out that Gus Newman, who operated the Islay Dive Centre, is now occupied with building very nice boats in Lagavulin and is making a living of that. His company is called StormCats and on their website there is a smashing promotional video presenting a boat, the new StormBreaker, riding Islay’s waves.
Stormcats are proud to launch the new StormBreaker - a completely new monohull design that can achieve sprint speeds of up to 50kt while carrying eight people. With an innovative deck layout and a hydrodynamic multi-purpose cathedral hull, the StormBreaker is designed to survive the challenging waters of the West Coast of Scotland where she is built and tested.
But how does Kelly Clarkson fit into the story, you might ask yourself? Remember the promotional video of the StormBreaker I mentioned, which by the way was shot in the waters near Lagavulin?
If you watch it, you are going to hear some brilliant rock-music on the video as well. At first I didn’t know who the singer was, but today I’ve asked around and figured out that it is Kelly Clarkson. The song is called ‘Since U Been Gone’. So she is the one, who provides the rocking background to the rocking boat… - Get the picture? Above that, I can really recommend a visit to the StormCats website which is very well designed and a joy for the eye as well. So enjoy these smashing beats and a smashing ride on Islay’s waves. Oh, and don't forget to crank up the volume!
