Wanted: People of Islay

  Sunday, July 15 2007

No matter how beautiful a place is, in the end it’s the people there and their way of living who make you fall in love with that part of the world. May it be their friendliness, their open-mindedness or just the way they happily ignore the hectic ruling our modern lives…

On Islay, one cannot avoid finding these pleasant qualities in most of the people, but there is, however, much more interesting about them than 'just' their kindness. That's the reason I started this new project to give Islay a 'face'. To get to know some of the people on Islay a bit better, I presented them a questionnaire with 19 questions. The answers and questions end up on their personal page including a picture of this person, without any editing from my side. I thought this would be a good way for visitors of Islay to find out more about some 'special characters' on the Hebridean Queen. In the meanwhile one person volunteered to be the first and several others are working on my questionnaire as we speak.

I can imagine that someone living on Islay would like to join this unique and ongoing project. If you are interested please do not hesitate and contact me so we can arrange a 'virtual meeting'. To get an idea of how such a page would look like you can have a 'sneak preview' of the first Ileach who joined this project: Brian Palmer.
