Somewhere over the Islay Rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow, Way up high, There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, Skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true.

Rainbow over Carnduncan

Over the rainbow is the title of the famous song that has been covered by dozens of singers and bands but first sung by Judy Garland in Wizard of Oz. We have fond memories of this song, specially the version by Barbara Streisand. Over the rainbow or not, we were definitely over the moon when we saw this beauty on the first of March 2009 on Islay. We were on our way to Sanaigmore when a shower arrived and this beautiful double rainbow showed its magnificent colours. I took several pictures and also created a panorama image which you can see below.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
