New Organ for Bowmore Round Church

A new organ was installed in Islay's Round Church in Bowmore last week by Allen Organs of High Wycombe. This replaces the instrument which was irreparably damaged by the lightning strike on the church last January and was donated by Cath Crawford in memory of her late husband Tom, a former Bowmore headmaster and an esteemed organist and session clerk at the Round Church for many years.

Prior to the installation, the capabilities of the new organ were ably demonstrated to the congregation by Dr Tim Cooke, an eminent organist attached to the suppliers. The new organ was dedicated at the family service on Sunday morning by Church of Scotland Reader Angela Stather and pulling out the stops was music teacher Jean Campbell, resident organist at St John’s Church at Port Ellen. The replacement instrument was purchased through the generosity of members of the congregation and local well wishers as well as contributions from outside agencies.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
