Loch Gorm Wild Brown Trout

Teresa of Islay Wildscapes is still on Islay and had another great week with interesting information for the upcoming fishing competition at Loch Gorm. She sent the following notes and beautiful pictures:

Monday 18 May saw the catch of a lifetime by fisherman Mr Stan Paterson from Dumbarton who has been staying at Blackpark Croft. Whilst fishing on Loch Gorm he caught a wild brown trout weighing in at four pounds. This is one of the largest wild brown trout caught in the loch. Angus and Isabel McLugash at Blackpark Croft joined in with the celebrations of the catch with Mr Paterson and his friends.

A walk around the Mull of Oa and Killeyan offers great opportunities for wildlife watching around the RSPB Reserve. Taking the footpath to the monument from the visitor car park. Choughs, eagle and wild goats maybe seen around the dramatic cliffline. Common seals can be observed hauled out on rocks at low tide.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
