The coveted Gold Star accolade was launched by VisitScotland to highlight establishments within the Quality Assurance scheme who have gone the extra mile to exceed customer expectations. VisitScotland say: 'Often seen as front line ambassadors for Scotland’s tourism industry, the recipients display genuine enthusiasm for the hospitality they offer. These establishments show a real commitment to service and customer care in everything they do - from the welcome and friendliness on arrival, to the breakfast quality, to the final farewell.'

Scott Armstrong, Regional Director, said: 'Working together, we sell Scotland to the world, bringing millions of visitors and billions of pounds to the economy. B&Bs and guesthouses have a very important role to play in that equation.'Our research shows it has been a strong season for the B&B and Guesthouse sector - across Scotland occupancy rates are up by 4% this year. The ‘Gold Star’ rewards will be reaped not just by the accommodation providers, but for their customers and by extension Scottish tourism as a whole, as we work together to encourage visitors to stay longer and spend more.'

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
