Jura Passenger Ferry Services Started

Travel from Craighouse Stone Pier, Jura to Tayvallich on the mainland in under 1 hour!

Since yesterday the Isle of Jura is finally connected with the mainland through a new passenger ferry service, run by Islay Sea Safari. After the succesful trial last year the island now has it's own passenger ferry which means that the people from the island and visitors no longer need to travel to Islay first, which will save them a lot of time. The new ferry service will not run all year round but will be operational from the 16th of June to the 29th of September. The route is from the Stone Pier in Small Isles Bay at Craighouse (picture right), Isle of Jura to the pontoons owned by the Tayvallich Bay Association at Tayvallich. To use the ferry booking is adviced at +31 7768 450000. Fares for a single journey are £15.00. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesdays: No Ferry!
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday: Craighouse Stone Pier, Depart 0845 and 1515. Tayvallich, Arrive 0945 and 1615. Tayvallich, Depart 1000 and 1630. Craighouse Stone Pier, Arrive 1100 and 1730.
Monday and Friday (allows connections to Oban 0905 and Glasgow 0900 & 1845): Craighouse Stone Pier, Depart 0700 and 1700. Tayvallich, Arrive 0800 and 1800. Tayvallich, Depart 1000 and 1815. Craighouse Stone Pier, Arrive 1100 and 1915.
Sunday: Craighouse Stone Pier, Depart 0915 and 1700. Tayvallich, Arrive 1000 and 1800. Tayvallich, Depart 1000 and 1815. Craighouse Stone Pier, Arrive 1100 and 1915.
