Islay Pharmacy Open

Dispensing pharmacist Nigel Carling opened the new Islay Pharmacy in Bowmore on Wednesday 1st August. Mr Carling, a native of Durham, graduated with pharmacy qualifications from Leicester’s De Montfort University. He is looking forward to working in a small business, and as well as dispensing prescriptons he hopes to help Islay folk to look after their wellbeing. As well as filling prescriptions, the shop will give locals and visitors access to alternative health and personal care products, some of which have only been available by mail order or from mainland stores. Mr Carling lived and worked in Arran prior to taking up his post in Islay, and with a young family, has grown to appreciate island life.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
