Introducing Islay Artist Carol Andrew

A few weeks ago I saw the artworkislay website for the first time and was intrigued by the beauty of the paintings and also very curious about the person who created these stunning and colourful Islay landscapes.

I decided to write an email asking if she was interested to introduce herself on the Islay Weblog and received a little introduction and some pictures of her work in return.

Carol Andrew: As an artist living on islay my work is very much concerned with the local landscape with its infinite variety of light colour and texture. I use a variety of materials and working processes in my work, including fabric and thread, print and clay as part of my exploration. A recent exhibition at Ionad Chaluim Ile, the Columba Centre, Bowmore included paintings on canvas in oil or acrylic paint as well as various mixed media pieces. Following is an example of my work:

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
