Islay Mystery Man remains Mystery

On April 2006 the body of a man washed up on the beach at Lossit Bay on Islay. Strathclyde police have tried to identify this man but weren't successful and now, after almost two years, the identity of this man has remained unknown. They have now renewed an appeal for information to find out who this man was. The Campbeltown Courier has reported about this mystery man today and also showed a police artist’s impression of how the man looked in life. A quote from the Campbeltown Courier:

He's somebody’s son, he might have been a father, a brother and he could have a wife or sweetheart but 20 months after his body washed ashore on Islay the identity of this man remains unknown. On January 11 Strathclyde Police reissued photographs to press across the UK in an effort to bring this case to a satisfactory conclusion. Detective Inspector David Hardie, of Campbeltown Police office has led the investigation from the beginning. He said: 'Despite extensive police inquiries, including checking missing person reports, the man has not yet been identified. I appreciate that it is now nearly two years since his body was discovered but I would still like to bring closure to this enquiry. Its maybe that friends or family members did not see the first appeals and this is a final attempt to identify him and to trace any relatives the man may have had.'

The website of Strathclyde Police doesn't give more information (yet) but in the unlikely event you recognise the man in the picture you will find contact information there.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
