Islay Hotel Port Ellen to open in 2008

Islay News

If everything goes to plan the Islay Hotel in Port Ellen will finally open in spring 2008. Up till now Scottish Water wasn't able to supply enough water to the hotel because of a shortage in the Bowmore/Port ellen region. In an earlier post I wrote about the Islay Hotel. Plans are to demolish the existing building and replace it with a new 18 bedroom hotel and 40 seat restaurant. Scottish water will start a project to prevent the current pipes from leaking to make sure they can meet the demands for the new hotel. Roland Worthington-Eyre, present owner of the Islay Hotel, said: "We are looking to demolish in the spring and to reopen the new hotel in 2008."

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
