Islay Gallery - Isle of Islay Photography

What do you do when you have more than 2,000 pictures of Islay? Burn them on a disc, use a couple on the Islayinfo website, upload them to flickr or another media site? This is a question I had to answer and I came up with the following: A special website (in this case a subdomain of Islayinfo) which shows the most beautiful places the island has to offer and nothing more, just pictures and their descriptions. A name for this site was easily found and so was the logo:

A few months ago I started searching for a good script that could help me with my goals and after several test installations I found the Gallery2 script the best option for this job. This piece of smart software is well designed and offers a lot of flexibility as well as several beautiful themes. Since I always liked pictures displayed with a dark background I found a beautiful theme and started working on this new site.

At this very moment the site contains a little more than 200 beautiful pictures of Islay, categorized in 11 albums and one sub album. My personal favorites are the Islay Sunsets and Islay Landscapes but the others are of course worth looking at as well, although I'm a bit biased since I took all the pictures myself. There are various options for viewing the pictures including slideshows and full views and each picture can be sent to your friends or family as a postcard (check out the slidebar button for all the options). The Gallery will be updated with even more pictures soon and my goal is to have at least 500 pictures in the gallery before the end of this year. The pictures on the site are not for sale, I leave that to professionals such as Mark Unsworth from Islay Studios. So without further adue here is the link to the new Islay Media Gallery. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Congratulations on some really stunning photographs! As a member of the multinational travel community at trivago, I have added a link to the Galleries in the belief that our visitors would enjoy it just as much as I do. Keep up the good work! You may wish to also visit our community and view the Scotland pages. Greetings from Cape Town, Pierre

Hello pierrejacques, thank you for your very kind comments. I am really glad you liked the pictures and also thanks for adding a link. Much appreciated. I have actually added a new album today called Autumn on Islay

This album contains pictures from last weeks trip to Islay, as you can see we had some brilliant weather and dramatic skies as well. Islay is fabulous this time of year.

I checked out your site and it looks really good, I suppose it was you who submitted the link? If you want me to write some lines for your Islay page i'd be more than happy to do so, let me know if you're interested!

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
