From our Islay Cycling Reporter

Yesterday was the annual Gran Fondo d'Ardbeg which unfortunately took place in rather dull and rainy weather. Nevertheless almost 20 riders decided to join this 100 mile charity ride on the Isle of Islay with two stops, one at the Old Kiln Cafe at Ardbeg and one at Debbie's Minimarket at Bruichladdich. According to brian it was good fun and despite the rain everybody had a good time and a warm espresso afterwards at Debbie's. Let's hope next year they will get some sunshine, perhaps a little chat with Jim McEwan would do the trick? And the winner of the ride was.... The Braveheart Fund, although I haven't heard how much money they actually raised. The pictures are courtesy of Carl Reavey.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
