Islay Woollen Mill Tweeds in Savile Row

The Ileach published an article about the Islay Woollen Mill in their latest edition: "Islay Woollen Mill have designed a range of exclusive tweeds for Huntsman of Savile Row. Gordon Covell told the Ileach: 'We have done this for several years now creating a range of designs exclusive to them. These will be marketed as 'Huntsman 2009 Exclusive' and will be in their window by August this year. We have had a special relationship with Huntsman for several years and have produced several collections for them.' The Bridgend-based company was also involved in the production of two films out last year, Amazing Grace and the Spiderwick Chronicles providing special designs for both.

For those of you not familiair with Savile Row, and that includes myself, here is some more info. Savile Row is a shopping street in Mayfair, central London, famous for its traditional men's bespoke tailoring. The short street is termed the "golden mile of tailoring", where customers have included Winston Churchill, Lord Nelson and Prince Charles. Huntsman, one of these shops, sells tweeds make by the Islay Woollen Mill which they proudly present on their website as: "Our tweeds are woven for us in Scotland to the highest standard at the Islay Woollen Mill. The mill was founded in 1550 and is the oldest working mill in Britain. Over the years, these tweeds have been used for shooting suits, sports jackets, country suits and hats."
