Islay Successful in National Mod

Several sources on Twitter have mentioned in the last days that Islay has been succesful so far in the National Mod. When I checked the National Mod results website I found the following results. This is probably not all but I find the results website rather vague given the dozens of categories where competition takes place in. Let me show you what I have found so far and I have also included a video that was posted by the Ileach today of the Port Ellen Village Junior Choir, some of the winners by the way which I didn't find in the "results jungle". Congratulations to all of them!

Now I'm not good at this but I will give it a try anyway. The first result I found was from the Còisir Ghàidhlig Ile, the Islay Gaelic Choir, who won the Sheriff MacMaster Campbell Memorial Quaich on Thursday, October 15 2009. Other results I found are from Hannah Gillies & Laura Woodrow of Bowmore Primary who won the Angus MacTavish Memorial Trophy and the Bowmore Primary Folk Group, they won the silver badge in the Folk Groups Open U13. Like I said, this is what I found, there is probably more that I haven't found. If anyone of the readers have more information please contact me. I will update this post when more information comes available. For now you can see the video that was published by the Ileach Newspaper titled Port Ellen Village Junior Choir at the Oban Mod 2009.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
