The Islay Motor Club will organise an event this weekend, on Sunday the 26th of April. The event is part of National Drive it Day which encourages all historic vehicle enthusiasts to use yesterday's two, three, four or more wheeled vehicles for a day to celebrate the UK's transport heritage at its finest. All owners of historic vehicles are encouraged to take to the roads on the 26th April 2015 to demonstrate how many historic and interesting machines are still on the road today.
As far as Islay is concerned the vehicles will be leaving Port Mor at 1pm for a drive over the island. From 2 to 4pm you can admire them at the square in Bowmore. The event coincides with the arrival of about 25 classic cars on Islay's roads this week, mostly T-Fords. In the last days we have seen quite a few driving around on Islay's roads. Unfortunately they will not join the event on Sunday as most of them will leave the island tomorrow. In the picture are two of the classic cars parked in front of Port Charlotte hotel.
