Islay Festival Diary Monday 25 May

Caol Ila Distillery’s Open Day on Monday, with tours and Masterclasses on offer, and again this year a special Festival bottling was made available to Caol Ila’s visitors on the day. Other distilleries also reported good visitor numbers for their tours.

The now-traditional Whisky Tasting Ceilidh was held at the Ramsay Hall, Port Ellen last night, giving the chance to show off first your whisky nosing skills, with samples from all the Islay distilleries, and Jura too, and then give your dancing skills a whirl, with music by local artistes and the Islay Fiddle and Accordion Band. Below a video from Caol Ila's open day by brian palmer from the Ileach Newspaper:

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
