Islay Distillery Tour Times

The official Islay distillery leaflet is not ready yet but the information regarding the tour times and opening hours of the Islay distilleries for 2008 has been updated on all the distillery pages. When the PDF leaflet is ready I will post another message here and include the leaflet in the Islay PDF Handbook and make it available for download.
What has changed? Quite a bit actually and I noticed that some distilleries already start in March with their "summer season" offering more tours early and later in the year. The Bowmore distillery charges an admission fee of £4.00 per Adult and they also offer a special Craftsman's Tour for £22.00 per adult. I will try to find out more about this promising tour and will post an article when more info comes available. The Craftsman's tour is only by prior appointment. Admission charges are not new, Caol Ila and Lagavulin charge £5.00 for a tour which includes a discount voucher, redeemable in the distillery shop towards a 70cl bottle of single malt whisky.
If you are planning your trip and have a few, or all, distilleries on your itinerary please make sure to check the opening hours and tour times to make sure you're able to visit your favourite distillery, join the tour, and enjoy your dram afterwards. Some distilleries require bookings in advance for a tour such as Caol Ila, Laphroaig, the Jura Distillery and Lagavulin. You will find all the required contact information on the distillery pages including email addresses, phone and fax numbers.
