Tuesday, November 25 2008
In the run up to Christmas there are several Christmas fairs on Islay in different locations on the island. When you're on the island in this time of year you can find below some more information about times, venues etc of these fairs which I found in this weeks Ileach.
Islay Quilters Christmas Fair, Islay House Square, Bridgend on Saturday 6th December from 10.30am-4.30 am. Special Christmas gifts and of course home baking, teas, coffees and Christmas Punch. On the same Saturday 6 December there is a Christmas Table Top Sale in Bruichladdich Hall from 12 noon to 4pm. There is a variety of stalls include home baking, jewellery, toys, Avon products & wrapping paper!
Made on Islay will organize extra markets as well in Port Ellen, St. Columba Hall, on the 6th, 13th and 20th December. On 29 November you can also visit them in Bruichladdich Hall from 11am to 4pm. And what would a market be without...... home baking :-)
The Primary Schools in Bowmore and Port Ellen organize Christmas Fairs as well, both on Saturday 6th December in the afternoon. You can find Santa's Grotto, Craft Stalls, Face painting, Tombola, Baking and lots more.
You can't make it to Islay? Don't worry, there are more and more shops who sell their products online. In the next couple of days I will write more about Online Christmas Shopping on Islay and you will be surprised to find out what's available online!
