Images of Islay and Jura

I found a very nice video of Islay on youtube called "Images of Islay and Jura". It's actually not a video with real footage but a series of pictures composed as a video. The quality of the video is good and the pictures are excellent. I have seen images of Machir bay, some beautiful sunsets and rainbows, images of Port Charlotte, Portnahaven, images from the Isle of Jura and lot's more. Besides the images I particularly like the music. I have contacted the maker of this video today and he turned out to be Jim McKechnie. He and his wife visited Islay for the first time in October this year and they were transfixed by its beauty and friendly folks. He says: "Islay is now our favourite of all the Inner Hebrides (though I love the real quiet of Jura and Coll) but for practical living Islay beats all hands down." Jim told me the music is by Capercaillie and the wonderful voice belongs to Karen Matheson. The song is taken from the album The Blood is Strong. Thanks for the info Jim, they will probably not chase you for royalties but consider it great promotion instead, but first they have to find out!

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
