Geese Waiting for Northerly Winds

Another report and great images from Teresa Morris of Islay Wildscapes. As you can read in her report the Geese are not coming in en masse just yet. The weatherforecast predicts a change in the wind direction to north-west in the next days which will likely trigger the migration. Back to Teresa's report: "Today has seen the arrival of several small groups of geese flying in from the Atlantic over Ardnave then heading due south to the head of Loch Gruinart. The wind has been in south/southwest which will hinder progress of the southward migration. There is a steady increase in numbers of geese but many more to come yet. After a dry sunny morning the afternoon deteriorated with low grey cloud and drizzle tonight. A high tide this evening pushed the geese off the mudflats onto the head of the saltmarsh and adjoining fields under a brief glimse of a watery sunset."
