Fly Cuppa Cafe at Islay Airport

Since the 29th of January Emma and Ron Goudie are the new owners of The Drome Café at Islay Airport. They run the Café under the name Fly Cuppa and are open during airport opening hours. Emma told me: "we are not just for airport travellers but as a cafe for all offering a warm welcome and freshly ground Lavazza coffee from a Jura machine. Our tea is whole leaf tea from teapigs. Everything is home made and freshly prepared from local and regional producers. Simple food freshly prepared from good quality ingredients. Our suppliers include eskinish dairy and Angus ferguson eggs from Islay, Isle of Mull cheddar, Campbeltown smokehouse, Henshelwoods of Bute chutney and jam. We have a selection of Home made cakes, biscuits and scones and home made soup of the day. Nethergate Larder of Ayrshire supply dry cure free range tamworth bacon and beef steak slice for filling our morning rolls. Takeaway is available for soup, sandwiches, rolls and tea/coffee."

The pictures below are kindly supplied by James Deane and show the new cafe and the happy new owners.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
