Dry Spell on Islay Ends

If it was a thunderstorm it won't have done much to ease the water shortage , i think the Isle was looking for sustained drizzle so the water sunk into the peat to replenish supplies and did not just run off the top surface .

I think you are very right Gordon, but when the soil is wet from previous rain they will certainly have some benefit from a good shower. I am not sure how it was in previous years but to me it looks like it's becoming a trend to have dryer springs in the coastal areas. I'm living in a coastal area as well and we experience the same drought. Right now we need an extra 20 cm of rain to reach the average rainfall we normally have in spring. (although not all at once please) :-)
