Discover Islay

There are many ways to discover Islay, either by foot, by car, by boat, by surfing the net or by using an interactive map with lots of pictures. Already a while back I created an interactive Islay map with Islay pictures and today I have updated the map and added a lot of new pictures. The map contains 55 images and shows a lot of familiar sites on Islay. It looks a bit like the Geograph project but I used a real map instead.

When I was going through my pictures from last year I came across the one on the right. I like this picture a lot and took it when we visited the Bunnahabhain Distillery. On the picture is Ardnahoe Loch which is halfway between Persabus and Bunnahabhain. A wonderful drive with stunning views towards the Isle of Jura and if you're lucky with the weather you can spot Rhuvaal Lighthouse in the distance.

I took the second picture from exactly the same position looking north towards Bunnahabhain. It doesn't look like a typical Islay scenery but that's one of the many reasons that makes Islay so special. The variety of scenery is huge and around every corner there's a new surprise waiting for you.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
