Debbies Mini Market at Bruichladdich

The guys at Bruichladdich Distillery know how to make a brilliant malt whisky and they know how to market it as well. The name Bruichladdich stands almost synonym with Islay malt whisky but not everyone visits Bruichladdich for a malt whisky. Bruichladdich is also a little village built around the Distillery which was established in 1881 and there is more at Bruichladdich than you think...

If you come from the direction of Bridgend and enter Bruichladdich village take a good look at the first houses on the right, here you'll find Debbie's Mini Market, a well equipped shop, which also acts as post-office and news agent. Debbie sells fine foods, a wide range of Islay whiskies and serves the best coffee on Islay. Debbie can also prepare a great ristretto, which is a double espresso with half the water. Keeps you awake for the rest of your holiday or helps to recover after too many drams at the distillery.

And you are likely to meet the Islay cycling crew die-hards, officially the Velo Club d'Ardbeg, on Sunday morning when they hang out here to recover from their weekly cycling trip.

The Maggie

Buy The Maggie from Amazon The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. It is however a 'gem' in the true sense of the word. The film has everything, humour, tragedy, pathos, romance. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time!
