CD release to benefit Islay Charity
Sunday, November 18 2007
As a follow up of the Islay Craft Fair post where Becky Williamson made an appeal to keep Islay in mind when it comes to Christmas shopping, the following information might also help to find a nice Christmas present for your loved ones:
Donald MacLeod of Portnahaven is to release a CD comprising a selection of his BBC recordings. This is the first release of Donald’s music in over 50 years - some lucky Illich may still have copies of his '78s' from the 1950s. The CD will be called 'An t-Eilean Mor' after Orsay island off the Rhinns- and has a range of Donald’s songs many with an Islay connection. Profits from the CD will go to the 'Islay & Jura Sick Children’s Fund'. This very worthy cause provides support in travel, accommodation and living expenses for families of Islay & Jura children requiring hospital treatment on the mainland. The CD will be distributed nationally through Highlander Music, under the Rhinns Music label and will be available from early December in Bridgend Stores and other Islay outlets. 'An t-Eilean Mor' is expected to prove highly popular at home and abroad and is a chance to give to a great cause as well as being a wonderful present.
I am not sure if the CD will be sold online but you might try the Laddieshop in a few weeks. If the CD will be sold in my Online Islay Shop I will post about it on the blog. There is another charity CD for sale in the Online Shop which is "Holiday on Islay" by the Sheena Swanson Quartet, speaking of nice presents...
