The Islay Festival is behind us and now it's time for another major event on Islay, the Islay Rugby Festival, which will be held on Saturday 14th of June in Port Ellen, at the beach opposite the White Hart Hotel. And it promises to be another very busy weekend at Port Ellen. This year 32 teams will ‘eat sand’ and take part in the tournament. The weather forecast looks not too bad, mostly cloudy but dry and hardly any wind. To cope with the huge increase in foot passengers Calmac will have an alternative timetable in operation over the weekend of the tournament as follows:
- Friday 13th June All sailings will be to/from Port Ellen (1300 and 1800 from Kennacraig, and 1530 from Islay are amended)
- Saturday 14th June 0700 from Islay will depart from Port Ellen, not Port Askaig as timetabled. The sailing from Oban/Colonsay will arrive as normal at Port Askaig at 2030, once traffic is discharged will then reposition to Port Ellen. (all other sailings are unaffected)
- Sunday 15th June 0945 sailing from Islay will depart from Port Ellen, not Port Askaig as timetabled (all others sailings are unaffected)
***Please ensure that you take the time to confirm ports of arrival and departure. We have increased the flexibility for same day travel to and from each port, achieved by balancing sailings between the two ports on the Island.
***Due to parking facilities at Kennacraig being very limited, it is not guaranteed that car parking will be available - spaces can be used on a first come first served basis.
