Argyll Web Directory

When I started off with the Islay Web Directory I already had in mind to create a directory for Argyll and Bute as well. After all, Islay is part of Argyll and until now there wasn't such a thing as a web directory specially for Argyll. That has now changed since the Argyll Web Directory has officially started today. For those of you who are not familiair with a Web Directory, here is an explanation from About.com:
How A Web Directory Works: A Web directory organizes Web sites by subject, and is usually maintained by humans instead of software. The searcher looks at sites organized in a series of categories and menus. Web directories are usually much smaller than search engines' databases, since the sites are looked at by human eyes instead of by spiders. There are two ways for sites to be included in a Web directory's listings; either the site owner can submit the site to the Web directory, or the directory's editor(s) will eventually come across that site.
The new Argyll Web Directory is intended to give a complete overview of all the Argyll (related) websites and to enable website owners to add their own website to the directory. The new directory contains some extra information about Argyll including a page called about Argyll, pictures of Argyll, travel information and other pages with information which will be expanded in the near future. Besides for links, the Argyll Directory can be used for submitting Argyll related articles as well which will be included in the same way as a link. These articles usually have a promotional nature and are intended to promote a website or business. If you have suggestions or questions about the directory please use the contact form on the main menu.
